How do I sign up for a class?

Just look through the schedule on the “ONLINE YOGA” page, select the day on the rolling calendar that you’re looking to do yoga. Select a class below the calendar that takes your fancy. A new page will open with the class description. If this sounds good select “add to cart”. Here you can either return to schedule and add any further classes you wish to take or continue to your cart. Once you’re happy select “view cart”. There you can check you class orders before selecting “proceed to check out”. Here simply fill in your information including card details to make the payment. Don’t forget to check the privacy policy and terms and conditions before you tick agree and finally select “place order”.
When you’re paid and done, you will be redirected to a confirmation page and you will be sent a confirmation email. Both the confirmation page and email will have a unique access link to the class in Zoom, the video platform we use for our classes. DO NOT DISCARD YOUR EMAIL.

How do I take a class?

Five-ten minutes before class, roll out your yoga mat and click the access class link in the confirmation email you received. This will open Zoom. Make sure you select “Join with computer audio” and “Start with video”. Don’t forget this is a two-way class so the teacher needs to see you. Set up your laptop or mobile phone so the camera can see most if not all of you. That way Josh can see you and offer individualised support.
Once in Zoom you will be held in a virtual waiting room until Josh has admitted you. Josh will aim to start the classes on time. Once allowed in to class and before the start you will be able to speak to Josh and other members of the class just like you would when entering a studio. Once class starts Josh will mute your microphones. You will be unmuted at the end of class.

What do I need for a class?

A yoga mat, maybe a water bottle, and your laptop or mobile device, plus a wifi connection (or cell service if you’re using your phone).

How do I set my space up for the online classes?

All you need is enough space to roll out your yoga mat and to be able to stretch your arms out in all directions.
It is preferable that you are facing either a window or an artificial light source so that Josh can see you.

What devices does work with?

Computer: If viewing on a computer, we recommend using the latest Google Chrome browser. Make sure you got the latest version of your browser. You can Download Chrome here.

Mobile Device: Zoom is compatible with all Android devices, iPhones and iPads. If you’re a first-time user of Zoom after selecting the access class link in your confirmation email zoom will provide you with a link directly to the app download where zoom is downloaded for free, effortlessly and quickly. Once on zoom you may be asked to enter the pass code provided by zoom.

What if I am late for class?

If you arrive late Josh may not always be able to admit you especially if he is mid teaching. This is why it is important to arrive to class early. As well, just as in a yoga studio, arriving late can be disruptive to the teacher and other students. However, things happen so if you are late Josh will do his best admit you into class.

Can other participants see me?

Yes, they can. Zoom is a two-way online class that replicates the group feeling of a traditional studio class. That being said class numbers will depend how large your screen is when divided by the other students on the display. If you really do not want to be seen, you can choose to attend a class with your camera off. If you want to receive tips and personal guidance from the teacher, we recommend you turn your camera on.

Can I access Yoga With Josh from my phone?

Yes. To take classes through your phone, download the Zoom app and proceed by purchasing through the mobile site. Please note this works best on WIFI or with a strong 4G connection and it does use data.

How far in advance can I book a class?

You will be able to book a class three to four weeks in advance.

What if the video disconnects during class?

It’s unlikely, but if you get disconnected, just click the access link and try again.

Do I have to have my video on?

One of the fantastic things about Zoom is that it allows for a two-way interaction between the yoga teacher and class members and also between the members before and after class. It therefore creates an atmosphere closer to that of a real yoga studio. However, we totally understand that not everyone wants to be on camera, so if you are feeling a little shy that day or want to practice in your PJs, just keep your camera switched off.

What does it cost?

Group classes cost £6
Private 1-2-1 classes between yourself and Josh cost £35.

Is my payment safe?

We’ve partnered with Stripe to help make purchasing experiences easier and safer for you. Stripe meets and exceeds the most stringent industry standards for security. You can learn more about the technical details of Stripe’s secure infrastructure here. We also take your privacy very seriously. Yoga With Josh does not store full credit card numbers, but instead, only the last four digits and expiration date.

Is there a Yoga With Josh App?

Not yet. Right now you can take classes on your laptop or desktop with a camera, or on your phone with the free app.

Do you play music throughout the class?

Josh does not play music throughout the class; however, you are more than welcome to play your own music if you wish. Once everyone have greeted one another and Josh has introduced the class he will mute the attendees for the duration of the physical practice and then unmute everyone after savasana. Therefore, if you wish to practice to music, please switch it on during this time. Joshes yoga playlist he uses for studio classes is well loved by his regular attendees and so he has made it available on Spotify so you can practice to it at home: PLAYLIST LINK

Will I be recorded if I participate in live class?

Nope. Everyone that attends a live class, whether with their camera on or off will not be recorded.

Is yoga safe for everyone?

Yoga is generally safe. However, people with high blood pressure, glaucoma, or sciatica, and women who are pregnant should modify or avoid some yoga poses. If you are new to yoga and have a chronic illness or injury, check with your doctor before you begin.

Do you have special classes for beginners?

Depending on your current health, level of fitness and previous sporting background a beginner could attend any of Yoga With Josh’s class. Generally speaking the Slow Flow will be easier to follow and the Power Flow harder.

Can I take a class if I’m pregnant?

If you have a strong regular yoga practice for some time and you are knowledgeable about appropriate variations to take whilst pregnant. Josh recommends that if you are new to yoga and pregnant introducing yoga for the first time is not safe and instead would recommend pregnancy specific classes. If you have done yoga before and pregnant and would require extra attention, it would be advised to book in for a private 1-to-1 with Josh.

Can two people practice together using the same device?

Yes absolutely. Just ensure that when booking onto the class, after selecting the class you would like to attend, you adjust the quantity according to the number of you that will be practicing behind that one device. Then, select ‘book session’ and proceed as usual.

Why does the video occasionally freeze?

Live class and recording videos may freeze if your network bandwidth is low. The minimum speed required is 1 Mbps with low latency. We recommend testing your local network speed with a tool like Speedtest.
If you are using the mobile device, make sure to have at least half of your device memory unused. You can check this by going to your device Settings -> Memory.

How come the sound is so low?

The volume level may vary depending on the device and internet connection you are using.
